Exploring Good Governance, Arts Policy & Female Leadership within the Cultural Sector
(Yikes!)
So… What is this all about?
With my DYCP Grant, I’m diving headfirst into a research study that asks the big (and sometimes messy) questions about leadership and governance in the cultural sector. Here’s what I’m exploring:
What makes a great cultural leader? Vision? Charisma? A talent for surviving budget cuts?
What does “good governance” actually mean? And does it ever go beyond board meetings and buzzwords?
What unique challenges do female leaders face in the arts? (Spoiler: It’s not just glass ceilings, but glass labyrinths.)
How do we nurture and develop the next generation of cultural leaders? Because talent alone won’t cut it.
How do we shape policies that uplift, sustain, and empower artists for the long haul? Less red tape, more action?
The list goes on—because let’s be real, this topic is a whirlwind of opinions, contradictions, and never-ending questions. But through interviews, conversations, rants (the passionate kind), in-person research, and yes, even crunching the data, I’m on a mission to uncover real, tangible insights. The goal? To share, spark ideas, and figure out how this conversation can actually help, uplift, and inspire—not just add to the noise.
If this piques your interest or makes you do a double take, drop me a line—let’s chat!
Join the conversation, and most importantly—let’s have some fun while we’re at it!
